Easter Blessings

I know, I know, I have been completely off the radar for a couple of weeks. Why? Well, there are a bevy of reasons including Avery coming down with her first fever which stayed with her little body for a full three days. Yeah, that was fun. Also, not only did she get sick, she also decided that directly after not feeling well she would continue on with her whininess and begin her terrible two's. Do you know how many time outs she's had in the past two weeks? Too many to count. Do you know how many times I've wanted to sell her to the highest bidder in the past two weeks? Yep, you're right, too many to count.

We did have a bit of a reprieve from her 'terrribles' on the morning of Easter Sunday. We decided to go to church at my mom's parish on Easter because they have a 7:30am mass and we figured since it was early enough we would also be able to get into a restaurant for breakfast before the Easter rush, because we all know that you really shouldn't expect to eat out on Easter Sunday unless you're there early! I was a bit worried about Avery having to go to church that early and I was even more worried when I went to put on her beautiful little Easter dress and she threw a horrible tantrum because I guess she's also entering her tomboy phase and thinks dresses are a bit too feminine for her. Eventually, I won (did you have any doubt?) Due to the craziness of getting her dressed I figured church was going to be one of those times where Rob or I ended up in the crying room or the back of the church during the entire mass because she was making a scene. But do you know what happened? Do you? She sat on her grandmother's lap the entire mass and behaved like an absolute angel! The girl knows how to earn her easter candy! She earned so much easter candy that she didn't eat one bite of her dinner that her mother painstakingly prepared for the family, but who am I to complain? She behaved herself in church! Miracles do happen - Easter Miracles!

She looks so beautiful in her little Easter dress. Oh, and about the "terrible twos" I've heard three is even worse! I'm pretty sure we are all in for a looong ride!

Oh- how cute is she!? She is getting so big! I love her all dressed up! (we missed out on the dressing up since my 2 yr old was sick :( Good luck with the whining, I've tried e-bay and I just didn't get any takers... next time I might list her with free shipping.
Also, very jealous of your flowers!

Oh! I was going to say, for the egg-dying, get her down to her diaper and put her in the tub! That's what we did last year and it worked really well!

Happy Easter! Avery looks so angelic in her easter dress and then such a bundle of mischief in those otehr close ups. It must have been lovely for Grandma to have you all for easter!

What I'm Reading

  • Dr. Seuss: Horton Hears a Who
Because I'm a mommy and who am I to deprive her of Dr. Seuss.
  • John Grisham: The Innocent Man
A true story about a man convicted of a crime he didn't commit. Gripping and terrifying.
  • Khaled Hosseini: The Kite Runner
I've already read A Thousand Splendid Suns by the same author but have not read the Kite Runner. I've heard it is even more amazing than Splendid Suns so I am looking forward to beginning it.

What I'm Listening To

  • Colbie Caillat -

    Colbie Caillat: Coco
I just purchased this CD after it was reviewed on a local radio station the other day. Easily, one of the best CDs I have purchased in a long time.
