I reserved my right to change my mind

So you know how I said I wasn't going to find out the gender of this baby I'm carrying? Something happened that didn't happen during my pregnancy with Avery - my willpower gave out! We were in the ultrasound yesterday and I told Rob I was thinking I wanted to find out the gender. He, being the good man that he is, tells me that it is my decision and we will do whatever I choose - because he already knows that the baby is a girl! On a sidenote Rob thinks that the women on my side of the family are unable to produce boys because the majority of the babies born to my mom's side have been female. He says it's not really the men at all that decide what the gender will be, simply, when the male sperm meet our eggs we won't allow them to trespass and we spit them back out. Meet the reincarnation of Henry VIII everyone! That's the logic I live with every day ladies and gentleman. I have no hair left.

Continuing, because Rob said he knew it was a girl I was very much adamant that I would prove him wrong because again, just like with Avery, I was sure this little one is a boy. I tell the ultrasound tech that we would love to know the sex. Well, right away when she moves the wand to "the area" I can see exactly what our child is......... it's a girl!!!!

We're thrilled and very excited. Except about the fact that Rob was right, on that point I'm a bit annoyed. And Rob? The poor guy can't win, he'll be surrounded by females for the rest of his life, even our dog is a female, but secretly I think he loves it! There's a whole lotta estrogen up in this joint!

YAY! Congratulations! Sisters are the best! And the name options for girls are so much better than for boys ;)

Congrats! I can't BELIEVE you found out! But I'm happy... because now my curiosity is satisfied. And I bet I already know what name you're going to use!!

You TOTALLY lucked out!!!!!! Congrats!

Congrats - how lovely for Avery - they can be best friends forever! Rob sounds a lot like Steve - he was very smug about "knowing" that Sam was a boy! Little girls are wonderful. Rob will be thoroughly spoiledas they get older, girls always idolise their daddy.

That is great news Jenny!! Congrats!

What I'm Reading

  • Dr. Seuss: Horton Hears a Who
Because I'm a mommy and who am I to deprive her of Dr. Seuss.
  • John Grisham: The Innocent Man
A true story about a man convicted of a crime he didn't commit. Gripping and terrifying.
  • Khaled Hosseini: The Kite Runner
I've already read A Thousand Splendid Suns by the same author but have not read the Kite Runner. I've heard it is even more amazing than Splendid Suns so I am looking forward to beginning it.

What I'm Listening To

  • Colbie Caillat -

    Colbie Caillat: Coco
I just purchased this CD after it was reviewed on a local radio station the other day. Easily, one of the best CDs I have purchased in a long time.
