Milestone

If you didn't hear - and I'm surprised if you didn't because I was screaming with joy - my daughter peed on the potty for the first time this weekend! Not only did she pee once, she peed three times! Sure, she probably doesn't understand the whole concept yet, and I was dipping her hand in warm water the entire time, but I don't care. I figure if I can get her to pee on the potty once a day for a couple of weeks, she'll start to understand the concept and initiate it herself. I am going to help her along with this process with having naked days, where she runs around naked all day or only with big girl panties on. And bribery. Lots and lots of bribery! We have sticker charts and special candy and her personal favorite... playing in the water on the tiled bathroom floor. I figure I can just mop it up so if she wants it as a reward and it gets her potty trained, I'm all for it! It may take a long time, I'm very aware of this but maybe it won't and she'll adapt quickly. I would just like her to understand the concept before our newest family member arrives.

And speaking of the newest family member, I'm officially entering my third trimester tomorrow! We will be meeting Hadley or Hadleigh (I still can't make up my mind) in three months from today and I'm very excited! I think she might be excited as well, or she might just be a handful judging from the amount of time per day she spends rolling and kicking around in my belly. I'm a bit scared, she seems to be a feisty one! Just what I need... two Averys!

Woo Hoo! Go Avery! We're rooting for you!

BTW when i read the sentence about the baby, I read it like this "We will be meeting Hadlee or Hadlay...." So unless you are going to send out a pronuciation card with your announcement - I suggest you name her the name that is spelled the way you want it to be said. Just saying.

Opinions, opinions! That's why I love you. If I did spell it Hadleigh would you be one of those people who would still call her Hadlay just to annoy me? I think so!

I like Hadley, myself. Over here, the other one would be a surname, but still pronounced Lee.
ANYWAY.... congrats Avery. Good stuff. When I potty trained Rachel (going back some years I know) she had a drink and wet doll which used to pee on the potty. That really helped her to "get it".

What I'm Reading

  • Dr. Seuss: Horton Hears a Who
Because I'm a mommy and who am I to deprive her of Dr. Seuss.
  • John Grisham: The Innocent Man
A true story about a man convicted of a crime he didn't commit. Gripping and terrifying.
  • Khaled Hosseini: The Kite Runner
I've already read A Thousand Splendid Suns by the same author but have not read the Kite Runner. I've heard it is even more amazing than Splendid Suns so I am looking forward to beginning it.

What I'm Listening To

  • Colbie Caillat -

    Colbie Caillat: Coco
I just purchased this CD after it was reviewed on a local radio station the other day. Easily, one of the best CDs I have purchased in a long time.
