Normal

I am feeling refreshingly normal today. After a busy week of playdates and appointments it is "cleaning day" for me and you would think I would not be happy about this but I am. Since about week eight of this pregnancy it has been difficult for me to get anything done around here without it being sporadic or just a big old pain in the butt. It's not that the house is dirty, it isn't, but I haven't been able to spend an entire day doing the chores in one fell swoop like I used to. I like getting everything done in one day, that way I don't have to spend the entire week thinking about something that needs to be cleaned or washed everyday. So, in honor of feeling "normal," I am going to list everything that I have accomplished today, just so if it doesn't happen again before the baby arrives I can say that at least it happened once druing this pregnancy!

  • Finished four loads of laundry, including the bed linens
  • Dusted the entire house
  • Vaccuumed the entire house
  • Deep cleaned the blinds on all the windows
  • Deep cleaned the master bathroom
  • Mopped the tile floors
  • Washed all dishes for the day
  • Ironed Rob's button down shirts
  • Hung all of Avery's clothes and organized her closet
  • Went to the grocery store and finished up shopping for the weekend
  • Made Avery breakfast and lunch (hey, it counts!)
  • Half an hour of potty training time... no success
  • Read books with Avery and colored
  • Made spaghetti sauce for homemade Eggplant Parmegiana for dinner tonight. Still simmering.

I think that's everything. Either way, it is a day full of accomplishments for me and I couldn't be more exhausted! But at least now I don't have to think about cleaning the house this weekend and can just enjoy myself. Definitely worth it!

dude!!

i am exhausted just reading this list.

does this mean you are in your nesting phase?!

OMG - I have NEVER accomplished this much "home" work in one day!! Bravo! Now get your little pregnant butt over to my house and help me accomplish something too!

You and I are so alike - I LOVE accomplishing like this. I can't do it all in a day anymore though/ But last week, when I'd done all the cleaning over the previous two days, we dropped Sam and pre-school on a glorious sunny day and I said to caitlin "What shall we do now?" And sge said "Cleaning". I said, "No, not today - shall we go outside in the garden?" And she replied. "No outside - cleaning!" Poor child!

Deep cleaning.......I can tell you've worked in the hotel business!! :)

What I'm Reading

  • Dr. Seuss: Horton Hears a Who
Because I'm a mommy and who am I to deprive her of Dr. Seuss.
  • John Grisham: The Innocent Man
A true story about a man convicted of a crime he didn't commit. Gripping and terrifying.
  • Khaled Hosseini: The Kite Runner
I've already read A Thousand Splendid Suns by the same author but have not read the Kite Runner. I've heard it is even more amazing than Splendid Suns so I am looking forward to beginning it.

What I'm Listening To

  • Colbie Caillat -

    Colbie Caillat: Coco
I just purchased this CD after it was reviewed on a local radio station the other day. Easily, one of the best CDs I have purchased in a long time.
